    DR High Beams for bass

So i have been jamming with shitty GHS strings on my bass because they were the only ones I could find in town that were heavier than 45-105 for tuning down to C for playing Black Sabbath, Nightwish, and various other choice metal. I got sort of used to how the sounded. this morning I decided to try out these new DR High Beam Marcus Millers, I read they were fatter sounding than the regular High beams. I don't know if they are so awesome, or I was so used to hearing shit strings, but man, they sound nice. They are really roundwound and raw feeling, almost like the factory warwick strings which I liked so much but can't find anywhere but online.

I love the Marcus Miller Fat Beams and always use them on my Modulus J-Bass. They are "looser" feeling than regular strings, though, and I'm not sure I'd use them for tuning down to C. I typically tune to D, and that's about as low as I'd go with them. I really like the loose feel, since it makes it easier to really dig into the strings in any style without tearing your hands to shreds. Marcus likes them that way for the slapping and popping stuff. You can really snap them hard.

I want to try the DDT bass strings for that reason; supposedly they're more "flexible" than standard strings.

I'm really, really loving the stainless Roto rounds on my Ric though. So far my favorite sound for that bass.
