It seems a lot of you place a Tubescreamer pedal in front of tube amps to tighten up the low end & give the tone a bit more attack. Are you doing this for just the higain channel or for the clean channels as well? If so, doesn't doing this make it impossible to get clean cleans?
Explain how you use the tubesceamer.
I don't need it for my Engl because it's tight & has more than enough attack, but I am contemplating getting an additional amp for variety. Something a bit less "boutique" & more commonplace. Right now, I'm thinking Marshall JVM410H or Mesa Roadster, Road King or Mark V.
turn the gain on the pedal all the way down to 0, and set your level so the volume is the same if the pedal is on or off. Adjust tone to taste. I just use it for gainy gain gain gain, but if dialed in it doesnt affect cleans too much.
