Default POD HD500 4CM transparacy?

Hi,

I want to grab one to use in 4cm with my Bogner TJ, I wondered thoyugh and couldnt find too many opinions on the net,
will it color my tone after setting all the levels? Will the preamp of the models sound good through my power section?
Anyone here experienced this with his tube head and can share?

Thanks,

Daniel.

I found it completely transparent with my Peavey Windsor head, and models sounded great through the power section of that. I don't know about your specific amp, though, as I've never tried it, and it depends on how transparent the effects loop and power stage are. I would guess, though, that it would work excellently well.

Hey man - I meant to reply to your PM and never got to it. I never tried it 4CM, mostly I just used mine direct. I don't even run my Axe-Fx 4CM because I always had a pain in the balls level matching everything. Even at my peak of 4CM fiddling with the Axe/Roadster, 4CM always colored the tone at least a bit, so I'd assume the HD500 would be similar.

Note that I run a lot more gain than Aaron does, and imo it's probably easier to dial in clean 4CM settings with more "rock" tones than high gain metal tones.

I dont see how the tone you're going for is going to affect the transparacy.. all that matters is if the sound you get with the pod between your guitar and amp is the same with the guitar into amp alone. I actually succeeded achieving this with a friend of mine when we did 4 cm with his axe and my bogner..

I can only tell you my experience with it dude. With my amp, and my guitars, 4CM, the tone was different with the processor in the loop as opposed to the amp without it. Wether it's the loop coloring it or the processor, it was different.

If you're dialing in a high gain amp tone, and you introduce the loop to the signal, that's something else in the chain, know what I mean? I'm not speaking theoretically. I did it, and that's what the result was.

Sure man didnt mean to sound offensive or something just couldn't realize how the amount of gain could affect that.

Well, weird, it worked really well with the bogner anyway, we did use a global eq on the axe to get some low frequncies that were cut because of the axe back, but after that, I really couldn't tell the difference, it was amazing.
