So, I want a volume pedal for my rig. Basically any other kind of piece of gear I can find clips of how it sounds and pick the ones I like and try out what I can to make the final decision. Volume pedals have a bunch of different varieties, active, passive, different impedance, etc. and in general should sound as transparent as possible rather than having a sound of its own.
I plan on putting before my amp to clean up the tone, like the volume knob on the guitar, but preferably more transparent and obviously easier to manipulate.
So, what's good?
I've been looking at the various Ernie Ball offerings, and the Boss one is solid I know. A control for adjusting the sweep or the range (especially the minimum level) would be a bonus but not necessary.
Also, would it be cheaper to build my own?
Ernie Balls are seriously nice-feeling, solid, and pretty bulletproof. No minimum volume setting though.
