I am looking at attenuators, specifically the MiniMASS. I am open to others but what I really want is to use it as a Dummy Load/DI. The miniMASS says it can do this in the description. If I am using it for DI do I still have to hook up my cab? Basically I want to run my Mesa into my PC and use impulses, and if I could find a dummy load that doesn't need to have my cab attached, that would be great (save a little space). If not, I do have a Marshall 1x12 cab, but its only 25w and my amp is 50w.....since I am not actually using the speaker at all....this wouldn't matter...right?
Hmm... since I am using impulses and am using it more of a DI than an attenuator could I get away with the resistor based "50w Load Dump"?
*edit* The Marshall Cab is actually a 100 W speaker, so I can just use that. I would still like some advice on which would be best suited for what I want to do.
A dummy load should work just fine. Just make sure that the ohms match and it can handle the wattage your amp's giving. And that it has a line level output - which any DI should have.
Personally, I ust a rig quite like that. I've got an ENGL Savage hooked to a DI dummy load with a cab sim which I use to play through my computer. Works just fine for what it's meant. If you're going to use impulses, a regular dummy load should work just fine.
