You don't need a head, but you still need a power amp. A head consists of 2 parts: preamp (tone) and power amp (volume). There's a bit more to it than that, but that's an oversimplification that fits what you need to know. Your pod is a preamp. It has a very weak power amp for the headphone jack, but nothing that could drive a cab. Fortunately, small pa power amps are dirt cheap used. You can pick up old peavey deals for <150 all the time on Craigslist. The crate power block can be had on eBay for under 100 and is an awesome buy as well.
Your signal chain will be similar up to the pod. From there, another instrument cable (like hooks up your guitar to the pod) will go from a pod output to a power amp input. Use a speaker cable (NOT a guitar cable) to hook up the power amp output to an input on the cab
