    Nice OD and Comp

    Dear metalguitarists

    As the title implies, I need some advice on good overdrive pedals and compressors. I've heard A LOT of good stuff about the tubescreamer, and I've also heard a couple of nice things about the boss blues driver and CS-3, as well as some good comments on the electro harmonix muff fuzz, T-rex OD's and Palmer root effect pecomp.

    What are your opinions on this? I have plans on putting them in front of my amp (Bugera 333XL infinium)

    (Btw if this particular question or a similar one has already been asked then please link the thread, as I haven't found anything when I looked :S)

    EDIT: I'm looking for some OD that adds a nice smoothness/warmness/somethingness to the tone rather than just sheer distortion. Compressor-wise: something that take out the hizz and hum and that clips the high and low end a little (so that the frequencies are a but more "bundled" rather than being all over the place) Hope I'm not asking too much

    I'll sometimes fiddle around with my DOD Electronics FX84 - Milk Box and Maxon OD808 Overdrive | Reissue Series Effects but generally I get all the compression and OD I need from my amp(s).

    I really dig the Maxon OD808 when it comes to OD's, I used to own a nice handmade comp but I never used it.

    MXR Custom Badass Modified OD for the overdrive.

    For guitar, maybe the MXR Custom Comp or the Seymour Duncan Double Back compressor.

    I'm sure I'm one of the few that like the MXR-ZW OD pedal... But I dig the tone and scream I get in front of my 5150

    What you described is exactly what I wanted my ts9 to do and it did it. No compressor needed

    I wouldn't use a compressor on my gain channel, since modern amps make all the compression I'd ever want. However, these are supposedly awesome for cleans:

    JangleBox :: JangleBox

    That is what Roger McGuinn uses on his electric twelves, and I can tell you, electric twelves clean NEED a compressor.
