Need cheap but giggable head suggestions

Shit got weird last year and I sold my 5150. I felt a little disheartened about the way things were going, had to make some quick money, and since I saw little to no future in my music 'career' I sold anything pertaining to live use.

Things are looking up, but they're looking up a bit too fast I've started a new band with a few friends, it's casual at the moment but is fully intent on gigging by the summer and since cash is tight I just want an amp that sounds solid live.

I have a cab already lined up (1960b), but want a head that can do hard rock/metal on a tiny budget. I'm not ruling out solid state.

Style-wise it's more grungy than my main "band" (which is out-n-out metal, as well as almost non-existent at the moment ). This new stuff is going to be more like King's X, Alter Bridge, AIC etc. So I need something that can pass that off live and at rehearsal.

Valveking? Marshall Mode Four? (although not compatible with the 1960, right?) Other suggestions? Bugera even!?

Jet City JCA50H? Blackstar head of some sort? Laney?

I think the JCA100H is cheapish.

Marshall 8200 Valvestate? Can get quite rock, but also can get up to metal tones (as evidenced by Death and some Meshuggah playthroughs).

For the price, you may be able to nab a Marshall DSL/TSL, or a Laney VH100R/GH100 or something along them lines too.

Oh, and of course the Peavey Ultra if you find them. Mine was 300 and is a beast.

    Do NOT get the Valveking.

The JetCity and Blackstar options are definitely better

22h would be a nice option depending on what music you're playing.

I get a nice proggy crunch tone out of my 20h, and the 22 would be even better

Don't get the VK. I'd vote for maybe a Blackstar HT-60 (my friend uses one in that style of band and loves it), or a JCM900. The 900 gets a bad rap, but because of that you can find them cheap and if you are good at tweaking and have a good ear, which your recordings prove you are, they can sound really fantastic.
