Today I was letting my mind wander and I thought of an interesting idea for future AFX technology. I was considering the new tone matching and amp modeling features, and I started thinking about the impulse process.
What if there was a small peripheral device used with the axe-fx to feed an impulse response through your guitar's pickups? It would be some device that replicated the full range of magnetic response, maybe similar to an ebow. The AFX could then take an impulse of a specific guitar in the way it or the Kemper models a signal chain.
To "play" that guitar, one would have to have an impulse of your own guitar you were playing through. The AFX would then "subtract" your guitar, and replace it with the impulse response of the sampled guitar.
Is this completely unfeasible, or within the realm of possibility?
i had much the same idea months ago, something like using sample guitar pickups or pickup/wood combos and then also applying that to first in the chain. then have a nuetral or near neutral sounding (flat response) guitar and pickups and use a selection of different wood and pickup combos in the AXE FX
