5150s are just so easy to get good recording tones on. You don't have to worry about the high end sizzle and low end womp the Mesa has.

Versatility is useless if you don't need it though.

Sean nailed the reason that I just don't like Rectos these days. If you can EQ the fuck out of them to get rid of the fizz and sizzle they sound awesome in a mix, but by themselves I just don't like 'em.

My 6505 sounds like a Recto with a LPF on it at like 10k and a fatter midrange. It's why I like it so much.

All of his guitars have the same pickups, so no problems there. Maybe he's onto something?
