Default Speakers help

My 4x12 (Marshall MF with V30s) is making a farting sound seeing as they are now fairly old and I don't like my 2x12 (Marshall 1936) due to the G12T75. I find them too fizzy. So, I going to fix my 4x12 with some new speakers at a later date but, first I want to improve my 2x12 seeing as I use it at home and at gigs so it has to improve. Then I can decide what I wan to to do with my 4x12.

In the grand plan I'm going to change the speaker in my 2x12 but, if speakers don't fix it I will grab a Zilla cab. So I need to get some new speakers.

About 99% of the time I am playing a 8 string, so I require something which can really hold the low end nice and tight with both my heads, ENGL savage and Laney Ironheart.

Any suggestions?

Since you like the V30s, I'd stick with them. If not, try some eminence speakers, like the Man O War or the Blackpowders.

Do you know what time it is? It's time to FARK SHEET ARRRRRP!!

I like V30 so I am likely to stick with them for my 4x12 unless I find something amazing.

The black powder from the description seams perfect, but I haven't heard anyone use one, well for metal. Not heard anything on the man o wars will check them out. I have heard of swamp thang but, never used one anyone used one?

Ant/BlankPlank knows the Swamp Thang, I'm pretty sure loads of people on this forum will too.

Sounds good I will look into it a bit more.
So the zilla cabs are they really worth the money? Or is it better to build my own?

Zilla are worth the money.

My experience of the swamp thang is in an ubercab in place of the T75s, in my orange 2x12 and in antons zilla 2x12

I'd recommend it for a 2x12; the ST is a very, very bassy speaker and not especially tight with it, so it seems to work better as one of a pair in a smaller enclosure.

In the uber paired with the V30s, they are definitely smoother than the T75s, but I struggled to get the clarity I wanted out of them; the lows they kick out became overpowering and less controlled than the 75-v30 combo.

If you're wondering if they're worth it, I gigged with mine a few weeks back, and the guys in the other bands were running Mesa and Orange 4x12's, and none of them were as good as the Zilla (not just saying that because I have one either). If he put his prices up by £200, I'd probably still buy one.

Excellent, I may get one if the Marshall pans out as being poop, which it probably is.
