I'm not sure what it is, but i think i liked the tone of the GT800FX a little better... it seems to "breathe" a little more to my ears.

I can't watch these now, but I was surprised that the Carvin HD1500 sounded a lot better than the Carvin TS100 tube amp does, at least with the Axe.

I have a Carvin DCM1540L and a Mesa Boogie 2:50, and it looks like one of them is going up for sale for the GT800FX
