The pedal is used to contour the front of the amp. Like Allan says, he uses it to slam the signal into the amp, and do some high end shaping. The pedals he uses that this likely replaces are the MXR Micro Amp (original), and the TC Electronic Boost / Line Driver (original). In the studio he used the CAE Booster as well.
In this video he mentions running it into his old Yamaha DG...Since the video is in his studio, i'm guessing he's using the DG-1000 he used to record '16 Men' with, and an old FET Carvin K1000 power amp...then he's got his UD-Stomps for all that delay/chorus, and a TC Electronic 1140 EQ (para eq).
His DG settings: "Patch- Lead 1. Gain- 5-7. Treble- 3. Hi mid- 7. Lo mid- 7. Bass- 0. Presence- 1. It's quite dark but you can always go from there. Good luck with the tone quest. Allan."
