Crappy Craigslist pic since I left this at our rehearsal space. I believe it has the original Sheffield 1290's, everything seems in great working order, two Tolex tears, no cabinet resonances or broken casters. Suppsedly it's all 7-ply wood except the back panel which is MDF.
From what I've read, Sheffield 1290's are similar to a Celestion G12M-75, which is a high-wattage Greenback clone. Makes sense I guess since the Sheffield XXX speakers are also like Greenback clones. In that sense it seems like it would be a V30 clone, but I'm not too into speaker lore so y'all can correct me at will on that. Same basic family sound though.
I find this cab to have a solid projection across the frequency spectrum, plenty of low end but it seems well controlled, with thick highs and plenty of midrange sear. Loud.
Speaker specs state low sensitivity so I'm glad I have 225x2 watts with which to drive it.
Nice. That was my 1st 4x12 cab back in the 90s. Great cab for the cash.
