So, I bought a Strymon Timeline. Played for it for about a week, and returned it. I just couldn't justify having $450 tied up in an effect that I don't use constantly, in a box that gets stomped on. Plus, there was just too much there that I wouldn't use!
So, I picked up a used one of these:
90% of the functionality of the Timeline for 1/4 the price. No tap tempo (instead has some crappy strum tempo thing), but it can do just about everything else.
Sits in my FX loop with no level issues; sounds great, with none of the tone suck of my old DL4.
Also, the Toneprint functionality is fucking awesome. Toneprints are like delay machines that have functionality, sounds, or other parameters that the stock pedal doesn't offer, like the crazy modulated arpeggiated delay preset I currently have on there. You can even do stuff like turn it into a chorus pedal.
Best of all, I can change Toneprints with my smartphone in about 30 seconds. Load up the Toneprint app, turn up the volume on my phone and hold it near the guitar pickup, and the phone plays a set of beeps and buzzes which the pedal "reads" and loads up the new Toneprint. It's seriously quick and easy and actually really awesome (since I don't have to constantly connect it to USB to swap setups).
Good fun with the cello too.
Definitely recommended. Sounds great, built pretty well, small, light, stereo, and all the functionality I'd like minus the tap tempo. Not bad at just over $110 used!
4.5 Dios out of 5 (the tap tempo is the only thing I miss.)
I definitely want to check this out at gearfest.
