i know there is a thread already with amp recommendations, i've had a lil look through but my price range is a bit lower.
>looking to spend £100 or under, but would go up to £150 if there is something significantly better for the money.
>must have a good, tubey metal tone. versatility would be nice to play some hard rock/bluesy stuff. but a real nice metal tone for fast or heavy is priority number 1.
>i'm playing a bottom end, RR Jackson with standard Jackson pickups. (not sure of exact model but cost around £220 new). - is it worth upgrading these pickups at this point?
>i'm not gigging. i've been playing lazy for about 10 years but am getting more serious about playing. i'm mainly playing metallica - [surprise...] stuff from all their eras.
thanks ever so much guys. i've spent a lot of money on the wrong stuff. bought a 100watt HiWatt amp which was a dumb purchase. also an effects heavy amp which was totally wrong as well. would like to get the next one right.
There really isn't much, if anything, that's going to give you a good tubey metal tone in that price range unless you get really lucky on eBay or Craigslist.
