So im going to do what i said i wasnt going to do..... and maybe play some gigs with one of my old bands.
For the first time in years though i dont have an amp head but i do still have a cab (as no one would buy it!!)
Im trying to find a way of getting a live setup again. I could get a rocktron midi mate + rocktron velocity 300 for both of which get decent enough reviews.
i could spend the same amount of money on a Laney ironheart 60 which looks like a solid amp head for the money and gets great reviews from this forums very own Fred the shred.
Obviously the axe will give me more flexibility and will mean i wont do any tapdancing on pedals. but the laney seems a bit more straightforward - i buy it i plug it in and im away.
anyone had any experience with the rocktron + axe fx?
The only worry I'd have with the 60 is the same issue the 6505 combo does with its 60 watt power amp, and that it'll get eaten alive by most other amps. It's the same that happened with my old Thunder 50, an Engl Fireball etc, basically anything 6L6 and not over 100 watts.
If you do go the Ironheart route, look out for a used 120, my bandmate got one for stupid money.
