    6505 settings

trying to get my setting just right, got the mids scooped but lot of people have mids at 6 I have seen, mine are at 2 and on the lows it seems its either too much or not enough....having trouble finding the perfect compromise....so what setting would you recommend?

If your lows seem either too much or too little, try lowering your presence, adding some mids and treble, and using less gain. Work on your picking technique and dig in to get the bite in the tone you want.

A lot of peeps love the 666 setting on the 5150/6505 eq. Use the resonance & presence knobs to season the overall sound to the room.

A good rule of thumb for amps like the 5150/Recto/etc is to stay away from extreme settings. Keeping the knobs around noon seem to work best for most people, and picking like a man

I run basically 6/6/6 as well, presence around noon. Resonance depends on volume - I tend to run it around 9-10 if I'm playing quietly, but roll it way back if I'm at jamming levels.

An attenuator helps a bunch with these, too.

I liked more mids in my sound, so I'd do bass 5ish, mids 6-7ish, and treble around 5ish - I backed it off a bit with a brighter guitar. Resonance and presence around noon or so depending on the room and band mix. I kept my gain pretty low (like 2.5 or 3) and used a boost. It may not be the sound your going for, but it stayed clear and cut like a knife

I used to run around the 6/6/6, but ended up bringing the resonance up to about 7 and running the mids around 8 to spice things up a bit, with the gain also around 6. Now I'm running the Bloody Murder, I can the it around 3/6/6 with gain around 3 too. Resonance and Presence either side of noon.

With my SD Jb equipped guitar, 4/7/3. With my SD distortion equipped guitar, 5/2/5. I play with 2-4 prescence and resonance to taste. I play super gritty/bright/gained. And yes, pick like a man, it's like 50% of your sound. My teacher preaches heavy pick attack like he's trying to make me a Jehovah's Witness.
Edit: gain 5.5-7 depending on how lazy I'm picking. No one approves of how much gain I use tho.
