Please watch this video at 4 minutes 6 seconds in ( sorry I tried to link directly to that part of the video but was unable to for some reason ) and listen to the guitar tone for the chords here. Just the electric guitar without the bass under it. It sounds almost "scratchy"
I have a schecter hellraiser with EMG81 and EMG89 pickups ( that can be switched between single coil or humbuckers) . My amp is a peavey 6505+112 and I have a big muff pi fuzz pedal and also a behringer ultra metal pedal. I haven't been able to get that standard scratchy thrash metal tone when I'm playing after trying all different eq setting on my amp, and all three 3 channels ( lead, rhythm and clean ) with my pedals. So I'm not sure what to do. Do I need a different amp or a particular pedal to get this sound? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
I also have a musical instrument shop near me that I can take my guitar to and try out amps and guitar pedals to see what gets me the tone hopefully and then buy what I need.
