Hey brothers of metal,
Recently one of these Mesa Mini 1x12 Slant Recto cabinets has popped up locally for auction. I might be able to score it for cheap. But I was wondering if it will be any useful..
At the moment I own a Blackstar HT-5R combo which already has a 12" speaker (custom Blackbird they say). I find the sound decent enough however I'm kinda curious as to whether it will sound even better through the 1x12 Recto slant cab. Not only that, but I could eventually use the Recto cab as a second cab. Also if I get an amp head down the road such as the upcoming Engl Ironball or the already out Laney IRT Studio then I don't need to hook them up to the Blackstar.
On the other hand I'm a bedroom player in the old continent living in apartment older than 100 years where the walls are thin so I can't keep the volume too high. I can get the HT-5R to sound good at low volumes but I wonder if the Mini Recto with a V30 would sound bad at the same volume.. (just to have an idea, I would say around 80db.. loud enough that I can hear it but I would still be able to shout over that volume to someone else across the room)
I'm not planning to gig anytime soon.. if anything, I'll record the cab so I think the 1x12 suffices for me.
As with everything I guess this is all very subjective but it would be cool to have a few hints before I jump into it, possibly only to regret it later and re-sell the cab
i cant see it making a huge amount of difference to be honest
