Just did a speaker swap, and found out one of my Avatar 2x12's is a front-loader. Fucking balls . Is there any tone benefit to having a front-loading cab versus a rear-loader? It's just an extra two steps, as far as I can tell...
front loaded cabs can sound a bit more in-yo-face and direct, while rear loaded can be less focused. I like both in different cabs so it all depends what you like.
My main 2x12 is rear loaded and a lot easier to find a good microphone spot on. On my front loaded ones they are so much more piercing and a bit harder to find a good spot.
