Hopefully I don't lose it Been interested in the Red Bear picks for a while for no reason other than they are outrageously priced and Guthrie Govan likes them. I'm guessing they won't really live up to the hype, but I finally decided to just take the plunge (at the end of the day whatever, it's $25) and they happened to have some in stock.
Anyone else try these out? Thoughts? I"ll update as it arrives/I use it/I lose it.
I've read about Red Bear but never used them. I've owned some V- Picks, and last year I bought a Huf Attack Drop that worked out to about $30 + shipping.
The thick picks are cool, but they're kinda noisy for me. When they're that thick and expensive, they have to be really hard to last and be worth the money, and the thickness + hardness makes them chirp like crazy - at least with the way I pick. Also, that was possibly the most homoerotic sentence from me on this forum.
The other problem I run into with low tunings (especially on the 8 strings) is that the big picks push the string around too much and don't have any snap, so the strings get boomy and go sharp. I've been getting into thinner and thinner picks lately for the snap and clear attack.
If I get back into 6 strings or into playing jazz a lot I'd definitely look into a Red Bear, though. They look pretty cool.
