I play metalcore and thrash. Lots of scratchy touch sensitive palm muting
and clear pinch harmonics are important to me. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good phaser pedal. I would run it in front of a Peavey Vyper (not the new ones thank god) both tube and solid state. I use the recto (dual rectifier model) through headphones and a 1x12 cab with a G12T-75 and a WGS retro 60 (v30) voicing on the other 1x12. I have a duncan distortion in the bridge and use an LTD H 101fm which has a basswood body.
I want a tight bass response and not that swooshy loose bass response on regen that you can get on some, or that thin thin frequency response that kills all the harmonics. I also hate overkill on effects but I still want options and flexibility so I shy away from the 1 nob pedals but if it gives me the right rsponse then i will go for it. I don't need analog but I don't want tone suck either.
I currently have a digitech phaser but it sucks tone like you wouldn't believe.
I also have a Dan Donegan weapon that has the perfect phaser sound with the rec model on the vyper. It has this reall bad bass hum anytime I stop playing. I can't control it with EQ. Thus my quest for a good phaser that doesn't suffer from this noise.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Any help or insight would be invaluable to me!
The EVH Phase by MXR is pretty fantastic.
