There has been a 50 tube watt amp head that I've been looking at for awhile. Love it's sound, but I haven't owned an actual amp + cab setup in years now. I've just gone direct with my Axefx.
I'm definitely wanting to buy this amp, however, I won't have enough for a cab for quite some time after that. Is there a attenuator/load box out there that would allow me to use the amp head into a cab simulator like the H&K Redbox, but without a cab hooked up? I'd really only be using this amp for my home studio, so live stuff isn't as big of an issue. I also can't be too loud since I'm in an apartment.
I will be honest. I don't know too much about attenuators or load boxes. Or if load boxes even do what I am thinking they do (eats the ohm load that the cab usually does).
Any help or suggestions?
Palmer PGA-04 or PDI-03, Weber Mass, Koch Loadbox II and the TwoNotes Torpedo Live. Take a look at those. They'll all allow you to run your amp into them without the need for a cab, and will send the signal safely to your DAW where you can apply an impulse file for cab simulation. They'll all allow for silent recording, too.
