I have been borrowing a buddies 11R for a few months now and I really dig it. I have been seriously considering buying one of these for my live rig. But I have some SEVERE reservations about making the switch.
First off, I am kind of broke these days. So I would have to sell my XXX to fund the 11R. And I may have to sell a guitar, and some pedals as well to fund a power amp.
Before I start selling shit I shouldn't, I was hoping some of you could help answer a few questions I have.
1. I am concerned I will miss that low end "chunk" of a tube head that is cranked. Can I still get that out of the 11R through a 2x12 cab loaded with V30's?
2. Is there a delay when switching channels? I have heard there is a very audible delay when switching mid song. Any truth to that?
3. Should I get a tube power amp or solid state power amp? I am some what leaning towards SS because I want as light as possible.
4. Is the 11R as "dynamic" live as it is on recordings?
I play hardcore/punkish stuff but am very particular about my tone. I really like my XXX but it is soooooo aggressive sounding. I feel like it isn't as articulate enough. I fell in love with the diversity of the 11R, and really would like having more than one useable channel.
Thanks in advance for everyones help.
I would be very interested in hearing about this as well, since I'm tired of worrying about fucking up my Framus out on the road. I just got a MacBook Pro, so the fact that the 11R comes bundled with protools is especially enticing for recording purposes. It they sound good live and don't have any problems I think I'll have to buy one.
