The last few shows my bad has played have been at smaller shows where the PA was garbage. One place mic'd up the guitars, but didn't have a monitor for the drummer. The other didn't mic anything but the drums and vocals.
They both had HORRIBLE acoustics. At both shows my drummer couldn't hear a damn thing at all. Since there are plenty of smaller, shitty clubs I am sure we will be playing in the future, I need a way to make sure my drummer hears me.
I was thinking of getting a 1x12 cab to set on an amp stand next to the drummer. Does anyone else do this?
Should I just pick up a second 2x12 and face it towards him? The reason I don't want to do that is it is significantly heavier and will take up a ton of space in the car.
This is my current rig, minus some pedals. I have never been happier with my tone, and more air traveling forward won't help the drummer hear me, so buying a 4x12 really isn't an option for me.
So, MG braintrust, what say you?
Are you getting powered speakers? Or using some kind of amplifier?
