Once again I posted this on SSO, but I seem to get more responses here.
So I posted a thread earlier about help finding an amp, and I think I've narrowed it down to two. Once again, your opinion is needed.
Before I compare these two, I looked at the 6505+ and JCA amps. I eliminated the JCA because the 50w head wont work will with my RP1000. The 6505+ is still an option, but may be at the bottom of the list.
So I narrowed it down to the Jim Root Terror and the Blackstar HT-5 amp. I know the Jim Root will cover a good portion of what I play, but I don't know about the Blackstar. I looked at the Blackstar HT-Metal, but can't find one in my price range.
Right now I play mainly Hard Rock (Godsmack, Pop Evil, Volbeat, Halestorm, Stone Sour, etc) and Metal / Metalcore (Of Mice & Men, In This Moment, KSE, Slipknot, etc). Of course given Stone Sour and Slipknot, the Jim Root would be perfect. But from time to time I need clean, or will play around with other sounds.
Jim Root Pros:
Exact Jim Root sound for Slipknot and Stone Sour
Plenty of gain
All tube including tube fx loop
7w/15w switch so can use in bedroom or small gigs
3 EQ knobs that Dark Terror doesn't have
Only 1 channel
Blackstar HT-5 Pros
More EQ knobs
ISF - can go from british to american sound
Effects level switch
Valved and not tubed (some say this is a con)
Not sure if amount of gain will handle what I need
May not handle gigs well without being miced
So, with all that info, what do you think would be my best bet?
Valved = Tubed
Valve is just another word for tube.
