I have been using the lower end zoom multi effects on and off for years, and I just scored a G3.
In the past I have used a 505, a 707, the original G2.1 the G2 nu, a G9 and the B2.1.
I also grabbed another G2 nu last week, because it was about 2/3rd's off retail price, and it has a few features I like.
After playing around with the G3 for an hour, it is my new favorite, the layout kicks the shit out of a G2, and feature wise, it is a great upgrade from the G2 series.
If you are on a really tight budget, and you are not a pro, have a look at these zoom pedals.
They have a tuner, drum machine with 45 presets, loop, and a shit load of effects with up to 6 being used at the same time.
And the output doubles as a headphone jack.
And the G2 and G3 both run on 4 AA batteries.
Throw in a pignose, and you can go jam where ever you like.
I give the G3 7 FUCK YEAS out of 10.
I've had a G2 for several years and it's served me well. I had the G5 but it had issues and I sent it back and ended up getting the Bogner red pedal (awesome btw).
