So this is my first tube/non combo amp I have ever owned.
One of the things I have noticed is that the sound from the two speakers sounds "inside" the cab if that makes sense.
Compared to my Fender Princeton 112 (65W ss amp) where the sound seems more in the room rather than inside the cab.
Is this because the TM18 is not suited for driving 2 speakers? Is it a matter of the head and cab are not a good pairing? Is it the construction of the cab?
I don't get the sense that there is anything defective but something just seems off.
I probably wouldn't have noticed anything till my friend pointed it out when we compared the sound character of the head and cab to the ss combo.
Overall I like the TM18 still working on dialing in tones that I like but that's more of a lack of time playing with the set up (been busy and one of my guitars is in the shop).
Any input or thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi Frank, was the combo open backed while cab closed back? The open back could be giving you more 'air' in the sound. Other than that I couldn't help ya, hope someone in the know chimes in!
