So yeah, I read the advice that had been posted in my JCM 900 thread and just went and jumped on one on Ebay regardless. Took a chance with crap pics and description, but it paid off because I've bagged a 50W 4500 model AND a JCM800 1960 cab for less than the head would normally go for Plus if this doesn't work out for me I can probably flip the pair and add what's left of my initial budget and get a JVM410 head.
Seems ok so far, but only played it at low volume at home. Dude had it wedged (and I mean literally) in the gap between a wall and his stairs. About 1mm wider than the cab. Aside from some paint spatter that'll probably come off the head is in really great shape, though the preamp tubes look ancient. Cab's been gigged to hell and back and is fairly beat up, but still structurally sound. Also covered in paint splatter too. Probably been re-speakered at some point as half the screws are missing on the back panel and there's the faint remains of a "4 ohm" stencil on it, but it's got 4 G12T75's wired in series/parallel for 16ohms as you'd expect in a 1960.
Anyway, quick pic for now. Looking forward to rehearsal Wednesday night when I can give it a good thrashing and see what it'll actually do. Got a boost on the way for it already
Nice grab, I say keep the paint on the cab it almost looks intentional.
