I know you mg.org guys aren't really down with old school amps, or anyone generally glorifying things in the past especially when compared to their modern day counterparts, so please take this copypasta with a grain of salt:
So I just bought this off of Brian Trifon (of Trifonic) as he said it was collecting dust and needed a good home, and man I am glad I was able to get this.
It's a fairly low serial, early 90's Revision F, and sounds absolutely incredible.
I have played my fair share of old rectos (thanks to not living far from Atomic Music, which has old ones come through semi-regularly) and this one sounds as awesome as I expected it to. Even better with a tube-screamer style pedal up front (been using my ProTone Bulb Deluxe OD).
I find it interesting to see how much the Recto changed in sound and aesthetic over the years, the newer versions (let's call them the guitar center era Rectos) don't actually share too much in common with the sound of these ones. These are tight and have rich midrange, very crunchy and the harmonic content is kind of insane. I may use my Two Notes Torpedo Live to record a clip of this, because through my Zilla 2x12 it sounds kind of insane.
Anyways, enough talk, here are some pics:
The older ones sound way better IMO.
