Well I'm after another cab for my collection and am looking at a 4x12 probably with V30's but am open to other suggestions. Basically I already have in my collection an old marshall 30th anniversary 6960B straight cab with G12-T75's and a Framus Cobra straight cab with green backs. Heads I'm running are a Mesa Triaxis and AD/A MP-1 into a Simul 2:90, a Laney VH100R and have a Framus Cobra on it's way and guitars are many in many different tunings and configurations. Hell, I even have an arch top and nice solid state 1x12 combo for some jazz and a tele with small tweed combo for some rockabilly but metal is the primary love. There's no real set tone goal or anything, just another flavour but if I can get something that's cheaper but solid then I'll be happy.
I'm just after another tonal option for different projects and different tracks and I always prefer 2nd hand gear.
From what I'm looking at on my side of the world, there are a few options that sit in a reasonable price. and some also include a head for the price which makes them more attractive.
Old Peavey 5150 slant cab and a few 6505 cabs around too. They're like $400-$600 which makes them tempting but I haven't heard the sheffield speakers in them
An Orange PPC412 in black with a 6505+ head going for $1500neg which would also bring a 6505+ into my arsenal
Randall XL straight cab with V30s for $600
Randall MTS straight cab (brand new old stock), the ones with the speaker sim outputs and V30's $699
The reason I didn't put Mesa on there is A I can borrow one from the studio I worked at for any recording projects I need, and B they sell second hand for over $1500 here.
Anyone who's had experience with any of them or some alternatives I'd love to hear your thoughts.
