How convincing is this pitch shifting?

I found this pitch shifting patch in an app called Audulus, I'm tuned to E dropped to B:

To be honest it's hard to tell with the effects on it. Try it again with a totally dry guitar signal

    My answer?

    Not... very...

The first track sounds like it was recorded in the early 1970s, which may be the unintentional effect the pitch shifting is giving (although I'm sure the chorus is enhancing that 70s effect). The second track is even less convincing as downtuned.

I say, if you want a song to be in B, then tune your guitar to B.

That's pretty awful. The artifacting, weird harmonics and overall '8 bit' sound would be fine for the intro to some kinda lofi retrocore song but I wouldn't use it much beyond a one use gimmick. I'll always say tune your guitar to what you want to play in though I have been known to use my G Systems harmonic features to some use occasionally but that's a whole other ballgame.
