It's a fairly crazy idea asking loads of people on the internet but, it's mainly to get a feel for amps I want to try.
So the back story, I own a ENGL savage 120 and I love the rhythm tone but, it over the course of my owning the amp it has cost me a small fortune in repairs for clicking sounds, to fucked power amp, dying tubes, fucked switching etc... From this I sold a back up Laney ironheart 120 because IMO I didn't dig the tone and the ENGL was my first love and along with some other sold gear I bought a kemper power rack unit. This has been amazing light weight does both bass and guitar and is very flexible. But, the Savage is now going to be repaired for the last time by me, I'm going to profile the poop out of it and sell it. But, I still want a real amp for recording and the occasional real world playing which is reliable, tight, good clean and preferable MIDI switchable.
Also I play a mix of 7 and 8 string guitars so lots of low tunings to hold together in a moderny tech death band and still has a decent clean tone.
Can I get some links to some amps below.
What kind of budget? Diezel D-Moll springs to mind.
Egnater Armageddon too (comes stock 6L6, but will take ANYTHING according to the manual, although it say one certain tube type has to be one certain brand). Has reverb for each channel, bright/warm switches for each, mid-sweep, and built-in Decimator G. One went on eBay for £600 recently. Discontinued though.
