My teacher is a HUGE mesa fanboy, and he RAVES about the cleans on these amps. He may have gone as far as to say that it had the best cleans ever. IIRC, is this the clean channel on a RoadKing?
I believe the channel on the Road King V2 only is based on the Lonestar. The power sections are different from each other though so it's not an exact copy. Have you tried the Lonestar model in your AxeFx?
Yeah hahahaha. I haven't gone through EVERY amp model, nor do I know which EVERY amp model was modeled after. I'm browsing the list on the wiki page right now.
Killer cleans, incredibly thick and singing lead tones. At the time, I sold it off fairly quickly because I could never find a solid rhythm tone that I liked though (was doing a load of 80's and newer covers, needed something voiced differently for rhythm), but I really wish I still had it. For the trio stuff I'm doing now, I really can't think of a more ideal amplifier.
IMO, the real appeal of the Lone Star isn't the sound (which is great) so much as the feel. I have NO idea how well the AxeFX captures that, at least at this stage.
The Axe sim isn't even close so far anyway, I'm still messing around with though.
