    hd500 speaker

I recently purchased a POD HD500 and love it. I now need a speaker for it. Now I live in apartment so that is also to be considered. I have played it thru my Peavey Vypyr but looking for much better than what that has to offer, I even tried it through my Klipsch computer speakers, but need more headroom. I have considered an active PA speaker but when I looked at those they are 800+ watts and me being in an apartment not sure if that is the way to go or not. I have also considered the Tech21 power Engine. Now I do have a EVH 5150-III 1x12 cab but no power amp. So what would you guys suggest?

A good power amp should do you well. That way you can eventually gig with your setup, too. I know fuck all about power amps though.

Why do you need a speaker if you live in an apartment?

If you already have a speaker cab, just grab one of Carvin's 1U power amps if you want minimal wattage with good headroom.

Yeah, a power amp through that 1x12 will be solid. Just get something small and not super high wattage.

Clearly what you need is a VHT 2/90/2.
All jokes aside though, not used the Carvin's, but I see plenty of people raving about them. There's also the Rocktron Velocity. If you have some cash to throw around, VHT/Fryette are bringing out the LXII. 40w per side, or 80w mono, full 6L6.

EDIT: Also, ISP make their Stealth poweramp which has had a lot of good reviews. It's tiny and 180w.

Tech 21 Power Engines are GREAT for what you're trying to do.
