Hi I started a thread earlier about connecting a 6505+ head to a PC.
What I've learned is that there are a number of ways to do it.
The route that I am considering is going from head to THD Hot Plate to DI (haven't purchased one but was considering the Focusrite Scarlet 2i4).
My goal is a way to enjoy the Peavey without disturbing my wife.
Now I think the Mesa Boogie Cab Clone would be the simplest all in one solution buuuut I'm thinking long term.
I like the idea of buying items that each have a specialized role rather than a jack of all trades.
The thought being that he Hot Plate would act as a load box for silent/cables play. With the added bonus of acting as an attenuator for it I ever get an amp that benefits from cranking.
Some sort of DI like the 2i4 for in the even I decide to try using a mic and recording a cab live.
This also frees me up to consider different cab sims in the future.
So my question is this......
If I am reading correctly the THD Hot Plate allows for silent play. Selection of Hot Plate is based on Impedence.Ohms of the head.
6505+ plus can be set to 4,8, 16 ohms does it make a difference which Ohm I choose for the Hot plate? I mean would an 8 sound different than a 16 ohm Hot plate?
Follow up question do you have another attenuator/load box that you would recommend?
Looking in local classifieds I see an 8 ohm and 16 ohm Hot plate
Are more heads 8 or 16 Ohm?
