I would pass. I'm an ENGL fan, in the "they are the tone of my childhood" sort of way. I've owned quite a few over the years and played the Retro in shops. I no longer care for the sterile tone, but they are one of the most gratifying/forgiving amps to play through. Honestly, the e530 rack pre is the best piece of gear they still make. Preamp section of the Savage pretty much, which is the best head they make, though the Blackmore is cool too, kind of a poor man's Savage.
The older stuff is awesome too. I have a Straight Preamp (e630) based off the Straight series of amps I am still holding on to. The Straight was their 80s esque Marshall head that Lynch and stuff used.
Honestly, it's an OK amp, but ENGL tones are ENGL tones, and $1200 is probably high. These aren't popular amps anymore, especially not the Retro. I bought my Blackmore for around $800.
I mean, this is pretty much what all "good" ENGL tones sound like. A ton of their amps can be dialed to sound like this.

Edit: ENGL build quality is also shit compared to most other serious brands.
