    Rock and a hard place

Right so I've gone a bought myself a orange dark terror and the shop I got it from didn't have a matching cab so I ended up getting a Blackstar 1x12 that doesn't have the same speakers as the orange ones. That's not my problem my problem is I'm not exactly sure how happy I am with the amp. It's just missing "something" the gain isn't quiet what I'm looking for. Sometimes I listen to it and think that's God dam badass then I'll record it and the next day it's just not the "heavy" I'm looking for. Tone speaking I'm looking for a avenged sevenfold/Metallica tone to tweak to my own liking. Now to the question. Do I sell and rebuy a new amp or do I get pedals to get me there. I'm lost with what to do. I guess the dark terror misses the mark slightly with modern metal tones

Throw a metal zone in front of it.

Return it, and go play through as many amps as you can until you find the one that just sounds right to you.

If it's the recording, quad track it for thickness or throw a boost in front of it.

However the line will always go it's better to 5150 than most options. Plus orange are pretty meh at the best of times unless you like bellbottoms and purple tinted round frame glasses.
