So this arrived a few days ago, as one of the 20 in a nice purple colour (need some joy in the studio ):
And I am loving it! Have been messing around with it, running amps through it, and it is a lot of fun! Can record both a cab emulation with 2 different mics as well as the raw sound (the 2 cabs just get mixed to one channel, and so you can do later remiking with the WoS III plugin) so it's great for tracking as I have live monitoring that sounds good straight up.
Also sounds a hell of a lot more alive than the palmer did, and am very happy with it. haven't really scratched the surface with it yet, but so far am very very impressed, has so much nicer feel when playing than the palmer does as well, just really does nail it as far as I am concerned, no stiffness in the response, nice and fluid, reactive loads rule!
I was going to get a live and a reload, but just ended up with this instead as figured that apart from reamping (which I have a DI and a Reamp box for anyway this pretty much covers it.
Anyway, it's got loads of connectivity (using the SPDIF to run the outputs into the DAW), menu system is fairly easy, but kind of redundant when hooked up with the PC interface (which looks exactly like the WoS plugin) as that just makes life easier. It can't hold unlimited cabs, but 50 is enough, and you can swap them in and out, so there's no real issue. I doubt I'll use all 50 at once anyway...
In summary, so far this is the best thing I have found for home recording with amps. It sounds great, feels great when playing and has enough to keep me busy for a while! No messing abiout with IR plugins and latency whilst recording, is inspiring to play through, so it solves a lot of problems i had with various approaches.
I'm sure I'll end up with a reload at some point, but at the moment, this is doing me fine!
