    Playing bass through a 6505?

A friend is interested in my 6505+ 112 combo but wanted it for a bass amp. Is this possible, will a bass guitar damage this amp, sound like crap?

I was once told that you can play a guitar through a bass amp but should never play bass through a guitar amp. Whether this is true or not I'm not sure. Bass amps seem to always be much higher in wattage and I always assumed it was to handle the massive low end of a bass register.

The speaker isn't designed to handle that kind of load. If you replaced it then it would probably be okay but it would be really quiet as 60W is pretty much nothing for bass frequencies.

You could. Wouldn't be a good idea though. It'll sound like shit, might blow the speaker and the EQ isn't geared toward bass.

Amp? No problem. I hit an old guitar tube amp with a bass pretty hard (Sovtek Mig100H).

Now, speakers? You're going to want bass speakers, IMO.

you're going to NEED bass speakers, that said It shouldn't be hard to find something used for a cheap price. That said, the clean tones will be terrible regardless. Probably could get cool dirty tones however.

I got my 250W Hartke Hydrive 210 for 400 off the 'Bay. That would suit him a lot better, not to piss on your sale or anything

Thanks for the info fellas, I'll tell him to just buy a bass amp. I'd hate for him to buy mine and run into problems later, thanks.
