Hey metal heads ,
So I recently purchased a Mesa boogie single rectifier 50 watt head that I really like. Problem is I'm having a hard time finding the tone I'm looking for. Any setting suggestions for metal? Some bands tones I do like are Synnster gates , Matt tuck and mike Padget from BFMV. I'm Just looking for an overall good sound like theirs. I know it has a lot to do with guitar, pickups , speakers, etc but I'm just looking for a good place to start. So any suggestions on what to put my settings at would be great. Thanks for the help in advance.
I have no clue who BFMV is, but are any of these bands Rectifier users? I didn't think Avenged Sevenfold was, always thought they were something more Marshall-y.
Still, the typical starting point on a Rectifier for the Modern mode is to keep the bass WAY lower than you think you need (like, 10 o'clock max, and probably lower than that), the gain at maybe 2 o'clock, and everything else at noon to start, and then adjust to taste. People tend to oversaturate the front end, and dial in the bass and gain like it's a Marshall. Remember that the bass and gain knobs are designed to provide a useful range across three VERY different modes, and the Modern puts out way more low end and gain than Raw or Vintage.
A Tube Screamer out front as a light boost is popular too, to tighten up the sound a little further.
