Hey guys -
As some of you know, I've been working with a Fender Hot Rod DeVille, trying to make it my own - trying to coax a slightly more aggressive rock/blues sound out of it.
Tried a couple overdrives, etc., chasing that tone. I had some help from you guys looking at the setup Warren Haynes uses and I'm nowhere near that. But it's a practice situation.
A guy in my Facebook group has offered to trade a nearly new (1yr old) Vox AC15 with upgraded JJ tubes for my DeVille. I'm not worried about a disparity in value as much as getting closer to my goal of a bluesy but semi-crunchy, quality tube amp to play in my office.
I like the sound of the Vox AC15, and there are videos showing that amp with the JJ tube upgrade.
Anyone have any thoughts on the Vox amp? Any experience?
I'd like the Vox more, but because I like that slightly more British sound. Just keep in mind, you won't be able to coax Fender cleans out of the Vox. You can get some gorgeous cleans, but the Vox is just too different from the Fender. Also, which AC15 is it?
