The Morley Bad Horsie has served me for years and while I was fine with it, it was leaving me to desire more in a wah pedal. I was gonna grab a Dunlop 95Q because I was so used to optical switchless wah pedals. But that was also limiting my choices severely. And I didn't want small wahs like the AMT Japanese Girl either.
So I broadened my horizons. Enter the RMC5 Wizard Wah.
It was down to a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe and this. 2 of my friends had the Fulltone and I loved the sound. The RMC ended up winning though.
The upgrade from the Bad Horsie to the Wizard is like upgrading from a hunting knife to a death star. There was just no sonic comparison, especially with distorted tones, this turned the Bad Horise into Alderaan. This was throaty as hell and sounded amazingly vocal. It also makes me feel better that Satriani was using this at one point. The lower mid range focus suits my playing more and this is as sophisticated as it gets regardless on whether I use the amp's dirty channel with or without boost or a high gain distortion pedal. The Wizard wah just sings and screams.
Now to only get used to the toe switch. But with an inspiring sound like this, I imagine it won't take long...
neat, boutique wah fun
