So I'm currently getting my overdrive sounds from a mixture of the OD channel on my DSL100 and a EQD palisades.
Amp alone - light crunch (cleans nicely with volume knob too)
Amp + Palisades - Shoutier OD (same as using a tube screamer to give more head room and clearer gain)
I then use the bost function on the palisades to bring lead lines out a bit more.
This works really well for going between verse / chorus / some cleans etc. but I'd really like something to give me more a heavy low end boost when hitting a stompy/chuggy break down in a song.
Anyone know of something that'd do this well,
either boosting the amp more or to stack with the EQD?
or even if the best bet is using an EQ

I have one of these, and while I don't think it sounds very good with HB's, I think it sounds glorious for making single coils (or P90's or rails) get slightly raunchy on a clean tone with some well-defined extended low range (nothing farty). So, I can tell you it *might* be what you're looking for, because it does the extending the low range very well, but I haven't had much success with making it work well with HB's, or metal tones. But then, I have a Mesa Roadking, so I've never had an issue getting sweet-ass low-end chunk*
*meaning, I've never spent the time to try to dial something in. YMMV
