Okay so as people know I have been GASing for a BE100 for the longest time. My goal was to buy one this summer. So along comes an ebay auction with a buy it now of 2K USD for this head. I was going to pass on it as I was not financially ready. But my friend (best man at my wedding) offered to front the cash! He stated that this would be better than a BE100 and not likely to come around again for some time.
So the thing arrived today. I braved freezing rain to lug the 76 pound box home. It was double boxed and packed very carefully. The tubes were wrapped and numbered. I found it interested that the three pre tubes were different types and one of the power tubes was different. I wonder if that was just how the amp came or if there was some secret combo that George, Dave and Chris concocted.
Okay this amp has one of the finest master volumes I have ever used. Typically when you increase gain you have to lower the volume. This amp I didn't notice the need to tweak as much. That said it still sounds way better with the master volume cranked. Even gentle strums where these huge thunderous percussive sounds!
Two out of the 4 input jacks work. There's a difference between the two inputs. One seems to have more gain than the other.
Okay picture time.....
Under chasis complete these shots were taken by the vender. I didn't want to get in there and remove all that stuff.
