New Sound Wave Generation Device Day!
Well a EVH LBX anyways....and a fine lunchbox it is!. I had been looking at a few things but after some consideration I grabbed one of these and it does indeed smoke at what it is supposed to do. Today I'm just playing it raw with no effects or boost or EQ etc and it is just what I expected. I will most likely live on the blue channel 90% of the time and cant wait to toss a delay in the loop. I will be needing a supressor of course and am sure a bunch of things but all in all a smokin little amp and it is pretty darn loud, I mean I cant see being concerned about getting run over volume wise unless I was playing with Thor on drums through a PA.
Sound- 15W mode sounds better to me and the controls seem to actually work with small changes. I have played it while working and will open it up this weekend at DWells place, from what I heard today it does come to life at loud volumes but still pretty cool at reasonable volumes. It seems the 666 setting or close to that is right where it lives and depending on type of music and guitar is generally a tweak away from where you need to be. It is a rich sound to me and it really does come to life when vol over 3 but even raw (no boost no effects) at low volume it is fun. Of course it does VH tone but in dropped D I can see doing Tool and similar sounds as well. The simple feature set did appeal to me as I dont tend to use too many and I am glad to see the controls actually work, I could see a cool single coil low gain strat thing going down with this thing.
Build- It has a very nice metal chassis and I think Rocka likes the black and white and so do I so score and all around it just has a well put together feel and the knobs and switchs all seem nice too.
Super happy so far, will report back after jamming this weekend with a 6505+ next to it....its ON Wells!
