After getting this, I just realised I've got 20 Boss pedals. May as well make the 20th one unique eh?

The VO1 Vocoder has a lot cased in the typical Boss housing. It's main caveat though is that you need to connect a mic to fully utilise it's features, and unfortunately I don't have a mic on reach. Still, I had a bit of fun on the choir setting getting the guitar sound like an electronic sax meets a vintage keyboard.

This will probably stay as a studio exclusive tool whenever I need go all Daft Punk or talk box without a hose or as such.

It's no fun without a mic plugged in. I might just have to bite the bullet and buy a microphone, mic cable and stand just to use this often.

On the bright side, it's easier to set up than a real talk box and I don't have to deal with a disgusting hose in my mouth.

Nice purchase, wouldn't use but lately I've been into weird effects (looking for a Boss BF-3 Flanger and a Japan CE-3b but the way) so I would probably have a lot of fun with this.

    Nice purchase!

What if you plugged something else in? Maybe feed it a split signal that's passed through a phaser or something?

Run a drum machine into it.

You can probably buy some 2nd-hand cheapo mic to do the job. I really doubt the pedal gives a shit about the quality of sound. it just needs your voice as an input.
