Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer - Nothing but static

I recently acquired an Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer.

Unfortunately all it does is make tons of static, whether it is engaged or not. I've used multiple cables, multiple power supplies, known good 9v battery.

The power light does come on when you depress the switch, but it is not passing the guitar signal through. Just a lot of noise.

I've opened it up and there is not anything obvious.

It could be just junk, but I'd like to be able to get it working.

    Any ideas?

Make sure it's plugged in the correct way. I've made that mistake before

There is for sure a loose connection in it somewhere, if the guitar signal is not passing.

First thing I would do after checking all cables and tested power supply VS battery (which you probably have already done):

    - check that both jack input/output nuts are tight
    - if they are, open it up and look if the two wires connected to both are still in place, test them while running signal through and using tiny plier or tweezers and slightly pull and push them to see if there is any intermittent signal which might indicate a loose connection of the contacts
    - then if it's none of that, you'll have to test every component the same way

If you're not comfortable testing electric connections, take it to a good tech.

More simple: if you acquired this from a store or someone who said it was working fine, either return it or beat that person into a pulp until they take it back.

Beat them with the Tube Screamer.
All I can ask is that I suck a little less each time I pick up my guitar...

I got it free, so no need to return.

    I appreciate the suggestions.

If you got it for free then it might be interesting to test the connections yourself, if it gives static and light is working it is probably mostly functional so you might be able to re-solder whatever part is missing a connection.
