If that's the VS100, I had the same head for a time. I actually bought it DOA with two other items, a mostly-broken Sovtek Mig100H and the matching best-working-of-the-bunch VS412 cab, all for $350. I dropped $40 into repair costs for the VS100, and then sold the VS halfstack for $300. After putting $250 into fixing the Sovtek head, I then found a Sovtek 4x12 to match with it for $150.

That's basically the best deal story of my life, so far

Looks like an 8200 to me. Basically a Marshall 8100 with 2 100w power amps and stereo chorus.

    +1 on all this.

My old guitarist used to run a Crate Excalibur into a VHT Fatbottom and it was deadly.

Biggest mistake the amp companies made was figuring SS = inexpensive, so they marketed them specifically to beginners/kids and matched them with awful undersized MDF cabinets and thin nasally speakers.

True. I do wonder how much of that is also tube snobbery and what buyers perceive to be good value for money - some dudes would never pay the same for ss as they would for tube as its perceived to be inferior tech
